============================================================================================================

Old text of RIP 2010:

Preface
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
At the present time the two main types are Combination Problems (C-Problems) and Endgame problems (E-Problems).
The International Rules are defined for these two types, with a view to the creation of a standard for competitions, organised or recognised by the CPI of the FMJD. Rules for other types of problem will be drawn up in the future as the need arises.
The present rules apply to international draughts problems.

New text of RIP 2016:

Preface
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
At the present time the most popular types of composition are Combination Problems (C-Problems),  Endgame problems (E-Problems) and King Problems (K-Problems) – the problems with one or more King for white and/or black.
The International Rules (RI) are defined for draughts composition on 10x10 board with a view to the creation of a standard for competitions, organized or recognized by the CPI of the FMJD.

Old text of RIP 2010:

1.16. The main technical definitions given in arts. 1.1-1.15.4. applies equally to problems with and without Kings in the in the Initial position. The additional and essential requirement for problems with one or more Kings in the Initial position is, that none of these Kings can be replaced by a man.

New text of RIP 2016:

1.16. Rules for King Problems (KP).

1.16.1 King Problems (in future – KP) – positions with at least on King for black and/or white. None of these Kings can be replaced by man except the following cases:

a) with man in initial position there is full or local alternative solution in one of variations.
b) with man in initial position there is no solution in one of variations.
c) with man in initial the legacy cannot be prove in initial position.

1.16.2. The requirements for KP to alternative solutions, no solution, legacy, economical jump for black are the same as for problems with mans only.

1.16.3. The total number of mans and/or Kings for each side in initial position of KP cannot exceed 20. KP doesn’t have limitation for material balance. KP may have ending material balance (up to 4 pieces for white and up to 7 pieces for black) if the nature of play and maneuvers in composition are better matching to problem.

1.16.4 There are two KP categories : miniature – up to 7 pieces for white (mans and Kings) and problems – up to 20 pieces for white (mans and Kings).

1.16.5. KP with one variation only cannot have any alternatives and/or duals. For multi-variation KP or KP with motives, one only dual is allow for each variation except main variation.

1.16.6. The requirements to KP finals are the same as requirements to problems with mans only.

1.16.7. The part of KP are multi-variation, combinational KP or “poliproblems” (in future PP).

a) Any PP must contain at least two compositional variations, matching rules for TV.

b) For PP at least one split into variation shall take place during black jump move.

c) Elimination of minimal size of “pre-play” before split into variations, is a positive thing for PP. Such “pre-play” is allowed when it is necessary to pass move to black.
