Former Executive Vice President of the FMJD Pieter Hildering passed away. Saturday, 13 january 2018 he died after long ilness.
For many years Pieter was one of the most important sponsors and organizers of draughts sport.
In the difficult for the FMJD time he became the Executive Vice President of the FMJD and helped to restore the order.
During 4 years (2003-2007) Hildering was practically leading the main activities of the FMJD.
The World Championship 2005 in Amsterdam and many other draughts evenements were supported by Pieter organizationally and financially.
He managed to help many players (also from Africa and Russia) personally while remained always almost invisible.
The draughts world will miss this big person and important supporter and promotor.

In Memoriam
When I took my farewell of the FMJD presidency in 2003, I was very gratified to learn that Pieter Hildering would be my successor.
His stature are an astute businessman with a great heart for sports, and his outgoing and friendly personality seemed to me to be the ideal combination for a leader of the draughts movement. And so it proved to be.
In an astonishingly short time Hildering mastered the complexities of the FMJD organization and stood out as a linchpin figure in the world of draughts, someone who united the competing factions and diverging interests that mark any International Federation. As a true team player he managed to inspire his board members as well as the top draughts players, and thus took the organization of the FMJD to a next level. In doing so he encountered the inevitable opposition from individuals less committed to the common cause, a situation that clashed with his penchant for harmony and cooperation.
As former president I had the rather unique opportunity after my term to stay on in his board as Vice-President representing Africa, a rather strange situation which he handled expertly. For me this was a choice opportunity to witness his administrative acumen and sportive drive, but above all his dedication to draughts and great personality.
His untimely death is a devastating blow for all near to him, and a severe loss for all of us who worked with him. The world of draughts will not forget Pieter Hildering.

Судя по публикациям на сайте "Шашки в России" , бывший вице-президент ФМЖД  Питер Хилдеринг был первым и  единственным представителем высшего руководства этой организации, кому были не безразличны вопросы , связанные с существованием  шашечной композиции как вида спорта .


Память о Питере Хилдеринге навсегда сохранится в сердцах любителей шашек и шашечной композиции .
